I’m Omar Jean-Baptiste, MD, MSCR—a physician, educator, and mentor. I grew up in Tampa, studied at the University of South Florida, and earned my medical degree and Master of Science in Clinical Research at Emory. I’m now completing my transitional year before beginning Diagnostic Radiology training.
Celebrating medical school graduation.
Matched into Diagnostic Radiology.
My path included setbacks. In 2025, I did not match into residency. I took time to reflect, speak with mentors, and undertake a research year. That experience helped me clarify the career I wanted. In 2026, I matched into Diagnostic Radiology.
I also know what it feels like to struggle with exam preparation. My own progress through the MCAT and medical school exams taught me how much a thoughtful approach can change a trajectory. I ultimately earned a 268 on Step 2 CK. An early result or disappointing application cycle deserves careful attention, but it does not tell the whole story.
Along the way, I taught the MCAT, tutored medical students, advised applicants, and served as a student member of Emory’s admissions committee. I bring that combination of teaching, research, and application experience to my advising.
I work with premedical students and applicants who want clearer priorities, honest feedback, and a workable next step—including students rebuilding after a setback or trying to find meaningful research opportunities. We begin with your goals and circumstances, then build a plan you can act on.
My clinical research training at Emory was supported by an NIH-funded Georgia CTSA TL1 traineeship from 2023 to 2025. That training informs how I help students think critically about evidence and explore clinical research opportunities. The publications below highlight my work in surgical outcomes and physician education.
